Radiotherapy

The primary intention of cancer treatment is to achieve cure and improve survival. Another equally important intention gaining importance in recent years is to conserve the structural and functional aspects of the organ with cancer. Radiotherapy has an important role in breast cancer as it helps in the attainment of both these objectives of cancer treatment.

Radiotherapy involves exposing cancer cells to a tumor to radiation (we say also ray or radiation) that inhibit the multiplication of cells and cause their destruction. These rays are produced by particle accelerators, or by radioactive sources. This is called "radiation" of the tumor.

Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are mainly used for palliative purposes in pancreatic cancer. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are usually combined with surgery, the main modality of treatment, in pancreatic cancer management. Pancreatic cancer cells are highly resistant to chemotherapy drugs.

Alternate medicine and radiotherapy are a combination that is growing in popularity. Radiotherapy treatment is normally used in cancer patients, with the most common type known as external beam therapy. This name evolved because the treatment consists of a beam of radiation that comes from a very sophisticated machine.

Prostate cancer has many possible treatments, and often different treatments are used together to achieve the best results. One method of treatment is Brachytherapy, which is when a number of radiation seeds are implanted into the tumour in the prostate gland. The seeds then give a dose of radiation to the tumour over a period of time, usual several months although this varies.

An established treatment has been updated and is now more widely available to treat prostate cancer. Brachytherapy is a technical term for internal radiotherapy treatment. It is a type of treatment that has been tried in many cancers and is successfully used for head and neck cancers in particular.

First, I will try to inform you what the definition of Mesothelioma cancer is. To understand the mesothelioma cancer, you should know that there are a type of cells that can be in the human body called Mesothelial cells. This type of cells build the outer membranes of some of the most important organs in the human body like the lungs, heart, abdominal organs.

Radiotherapy or Radiation therapy is the old way for treating various kinds of cancers and thousands of cancer patients are treated today with radiation therapy. Radiation therapy means using rays of high-energy to kill cancerous cells and reduce tumors.

Each year cancer research programs continue to grow: funding increases, new technologies make year-old discoveries obsolete, and more doctors and scientists contribute their ideas and methods to understanding and eradicating cancer. As these strides are made, more treatment options become available and fewer people are forced to endure painful and invasive treatments.

Cervical and breast cancer are two types of cancer which not only affect a woman physically but mentally too e.g. dealing with all the trauma after being diagnosed with the disease. A large percentage of women admit to living in fear of the big C, however cervical or breast cancer free women admit that the thought of contacting the disease never leaves their thoughts.
